Kutch area of Gujarat will soon receive the handsome grant of rupees 3875 crore to reach out the additional need of 1 million acre feet of Narmada water. Making this in-principle approval, CM Vijay Rupani acknowledged the thanks of all the people of Kutch, including MLAs, MPs, local dignitaries, officials and sant-mahants in Gandhinagar.
CM Rupani said that Kutchi people are hard working and the state government is committed to reach the water to the areas of Abdasa, Anjar, Mandvi, Mundra, Rapar, Lakhpat, and Bhuj.
Referring to the projects including desalination plant and renewable energy park in Kutch, the Chief Minister said that the State Government has given a new impetus to the development of Kutch district with many such unique projects.
"An additional 1 million acre feet of Narmada water will be supplied to Kutch. The 3875 crore rupees scheme will get administrative approval soon. A notification in this regard has been given at a recent cabinet meeting. The development works of the scheme will be taken up by December", says Chief Minister.
It may be mentioned that the scheme, which fulfills the long-awaited sentiments and expectations of the farmers and people of Kutch, will provide Narmada water to 3 lakh 80 thousand people and will green up 2 lakh 35 thousand acres of land in 96 villages of 6 talukas of Kutch. In addition, 38 reservoirs, check-dams and lakes in the district including Saran reservoir will also benefit with Narmada water. Cattle herders and farmers will be economically prosperous by getting rich produce when they get water and the migration of cattle herders and cattle structures due to lack of water will come to an end.
