Gujarat Vidyapith Ahmedabad University, founded by Mahatma Gandhi, celebrated its 66th convocation seminary on October 22, 2019. On this pious occasion the university invited famous entrepreneur and philonthropist Azim Premji as chief guest. Starting from graduates to P.hd holders, total 688 students were conferred the convocation certificates in this seminary.
Speaking on this grand occasion, Azim Premji emphasized the Gandhian principle of trusteeship. Premji said that there is a vast inequality in society which can be cured if all business men understand the nature of wealth and pay back their due as an obligation to society. Premji attributed his philonthropist practice to his mother and Mahatma Gandhi.
The Chancellor Elaben Bhatt drawn up the present day crisis in world. She encouraged students to take initiatives in solving these problems. She said that students should not depend on others to give them jobs but start doing social works from ground level such as villages.
The Seminary was important because Gujarat Vidyapith has entered 100th year of its establishment and the university is also celebrating 150th birth ceremony of Mahatma Gandhi.
