Uber Driver's sleep on duty compels the woman to take to the steering
The incident had taken place on February 21 but came to light only after this passenger Tejaswini Divya Naik posted videos of the incident on social media.
Pune: A woman had to drive herself a hired cab after she saw her cab driver sleepy while driving from Pune to Mumbai.
Ms Naik booked a cab from Pune to her home in Andheri Mumbai at around 1 pm on February 21.
According to her words, " Initially, the driver was constantly on the phone and I told him not to use the phone while driving. After he put the phone down, he started falling asleep."
Ms Naik further alleged that at one point, the driver almost hit another car and a divider which caused her to make an offer for a short nap to the driver. However she had made it clear that she cannot drive for long due to her back pain.
Ms Naik was felt tricked to see that the driver started talking on the phone instead of sleeping. He even smugly praised the driving skills of Ms Naik.
Meanwhile, Ms Naik finally got the chance of clicking photos and videos of him sleeping. Later on, she posted the video of the incident on social media, tagging the cab company.
Interestingly, the driver took back the command of the wheels when they were just 30 minutes away from reaching to their destination.
"This is a regrettable and concerning incident. Upon learning about this, the driver partner's access to the app has been suspended" said, Uber's spokesperson to the incident.
