Hardik Pandya Scores Second Century, The all-rounder May Soon Return to Upcoming ODI against South Africa

After a second super knock of 158* score with help of just 55 balls in DY Patil Tournament match against BPCL on Friday, Hardik Pandya has eased up his way for the upcoming ODIs series against South Africa.

Pandya impressed everyone with his second century in just 39 balls. His unbeaten knock of 158* came in just 55 balls. Showing no mercy for the bowlers, he smashed 20 sixes and 6 fours in this innings. Not only with the bat, but he proved himself with the ball as well. Pandya, while bowling, took 5 wickets and cruised his team, Reliance 1 to victory over the opponent BPCL.

This was a second knock in this tournament, as just 4 days before, he had scored a devastating 105 in just 39 balls.

Pandya had sustained an acute back injury during the Asia Cup back in September 2018. He had to undergo a back surgery in London and it took more than 5 months for Pandya to return to the play.

As part of three-match ODI series, India takes on South Africa on March 12 in the first match at Dharamsala.

According to sources, Rohit Sharma can miss the series as he still recovers from his hamstring injury. Though Sikhar Dhawan can return to the team’s squad but, the poor performance by Virat Kohli's against New Zealand in recent matches could be a cause of worry for the selection committee.

Although Hardik Pandya has scored well with the bat, his bowling could be the issue for the all-rounder. In DY Patil tournament, he preferred to bowl without much exertion. However, he managed to take wickets with help of his international bowling experience.

The selection committee can also use other alternative options. Shivam Dube can be continued with the team. Because like Hardik Pandya, he is also known for his strong arms to hit mighty sixes.
