We miss you bapu!

From the childhood we have been taught that Gandhi had us given freedom from the British rule. He is our father of nation so we as children start idolizing him and sing bhajans and dhuns on his name. Unfortunately for many people Gandhi can never come out of this simple understanding about him but nobody tells why and how Gandhi should be called the father of nation. By the time we get to study some authentic literature of Gandhi much intentional malice about Gandhi will have been instilled in our immature ears of us. As a result we spread illogical and untruthful opinions about Gandhi.

It is 72th death anniversary of Gandhi and he has become more than ever relevant today. Despite his hectic schedule, Gandhi was able to write on all important issues of the world. He has written on man, machine, earth. He taught humans to coexist peacefully; to live exploiting least of the earth including all living being; and achieve higher goals in life.

Albert Einstein said of Gandhi that "generation to come will scarce believe that such a one as this ever in flesh and blood walked upon the earth." It is true because even we Indians have failed not only to implement Gandhian practice in our daily lives but on the contrary we have devalued his name and ideology which surpassed narrow boundaries of Nations.

Many people now very comfortably justify Gandhi's murder. We are with our narrow perspectives of life. We cannot interconnect personal, public, spiritual. We have started to glorify unscientific approach in every sphere of our life. We do not understand the science of earth, the compassion for humanity, the service in politics, beneficence of money etc.

We have been now oftentimes accused of becoming insensitive to the suffering of other living being. Our failure to understand the science of earth has started showing calamitous pop ups in the lives of other living species. Gandhi had warned Indians not to imitate Western approach of industrialism. He advised us against any kind of hatred. But we have exactly been practicing the opposite.

The chief reason why Gandhi still matters is his honesty. He was the greatest champion of Hindu religion but worked for the betterment of the religion by working on the down sides of it.

Looking at the present scenario in every terms be it community, politics or environment, Gandhi matters. And if India wants to become the Jagad Guru of the world then Gandhi' s ideas and thoughts must be practised in every possible way.
