Guha says 'CAA is immoral, illogical and ill-timed'

In respect to 72th death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi the famous historian Ramchandra Guha visited the city and delivered a lecture on 'GANDHI AND INDIA TODAY' in ThakorBhai Desai Hall, Law Garden Ahmedabad on Thursday evening from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Guha expressed his anger about the nature of the much talked about CAA Act and NRC. He called the CAA Act illogical, immoral and ill-timed. Guha said that there are economic issues of great concern which should have been given priority by the ruling government.

Connecting Mahatma Gandhi to the present situation, Guha invoked Gandhi's idea of Swaraj. He further advised both Ambedkarites and Gandhians to sort out their differences and come together.
Guha emphasized that the present problems of the nation demand both Gandhi and Ambedakar's ideas of democracy and social justice.

In a question to the contributory role of so called  secular parties for the present havock, Guha bluntly criticized Sanjay Gandhi's pro Hindu tendencies during Indira Gandhi's rule in India. He further blamed PM Modi of showing partiality by invoking only those Gandhi's ideas which suits BJP agenda. Guha said that all the Gandhian institutes should be suspicious of Modi.

It would be interesting to see how the Gujarat government and other so called Gandhians institutes respond to Guha as for all of them Gandhi directly or indirectly still matters.
